Celebrating our first 50 years in Space

News: "A Beep Heard Around the World": Radio 3 is broadcasting four personal essays marking the fitieth anniversary of Sputnik on The Essay at 23:00-23:15 on 1-4th October.

Fifty years ago on October 4th 1957 the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I, the first artificial satellite. It was the dawn of the Space Age.
